What is Block Exemption?
In 2003, European legislation affecting the motor trade came into force, or to give it its proper name – Block Exemption Regulation 1400/2002 (BER). This legislation safeguards free competition in aftermarket parts, repairs and services giving consumers more choice and better value for money. This translates into cheaper servicing through reduced labour rates and competitively priced parts. In short, this legislation allows us to:
Any work carried out by us will therefore not void your manufacturer’s warranty and will save you £££’s on main dealer prices. In addition, we offer 12 months or 12,000 miles warranty on all parts we supply and fit, and on all of our labour.
“Our stamp in your service book upholds your warranty”
The manufacturer’s service handbook will set out what is best for your car, however if you can’t lay your hands on this then get in touch and we’ll consult the manufacturer for the recommended service intervals.
The type of service you need will also be affected by how you use your car. For example, lots of short journeys where the engine does not have a chance to warm up properly will probably mean more frequent oil and filter changes.
We recommend a full service is carried out roughly every 10,000 miles or once a year, depending on the specific manufacturer requirements and previous service history. It’s a comprehensive check, with filter replacements, level top ups and all the necessary adjustments. If unsure of your vehicle’s service requirements or schedule, please feel free to contact us by your preferred method.
If you’re a low mileage user, we recommend you get an Interim service between your full service every other year. When you book your vehicle in, we’ll check the service history for you and if we feel we can save you money by offering you a shorter service then that’s what we’ll do. An Interim service offers you most of the checks a full service does less the adjustments and certain filter replacements – See checklist.
This is for customers that cover big distances between their services, it’s designed to give peace of mind and helps protect and maintain engine health. Premium grade oils are used for all our oil changes as we understand the importance of using the correct oil – one that is approved by the vehicle manufacturer. Cheap oils are false economy.
